I Met The Bloggess And Now We Are Best Friends. Obviously. Sorry Vanessa.

Good afternoon lovely blogstalkers.

So yesterday this happened.

And then glitter rained from the skies and unicorns and leprechauns danced a celebratory jig.

I'll have a 'meeting Jenny Lawson/hanging out in Dallas' post for you next week, but to end this week on a high note, I am doing a completely unscheduled giveaway.

I probably shouldn't be doing another giveaway right now seeing as I have yet to send DeDe, who won the last giveaway her prize.  And I have yet to explain to Stefanie who won the giveaway before that, what all of the crazy things in her package even mean.  And I have like ten tentacles just waiting to be boxed up and distributed around the country. (Everything is ready to be sent/explained this week, seriously)

But I'm doing it anyway.

Because Jenny Lawson is awesome and signed like a gazillion books for me (Ok so like three, but still.)

And one of them is this one:

"Nice To Sort Of Meet You Blogstalker"  --Jenny Lawson

So just leave a comment to get this sent to you in the mail.  If you want (which I'm assuming you won't) I'll totally sign the book too.  Or like sign a bookmark and put it in the book.

And because I think that one item does not a giveaway make, I will also include my friend Bitey (inspired by this Bloggess post.)

He's not very friendly but he is excellent at annoying husbands.
I like to place him on Ryan's chair before dinner.  And then when Ryan sits down and immediately pops back up I say "What's wrong with you?  Sit on a rattlesnake or something?"

I'm going to miss the little angry dude.

Oh and I know I'm behind on other things than just giveaways/tentacles.  All unanswered comments/emails will be taken care of this coming week as well.  Don't despair of me blogstalkers!

Hearts from Dallas!

  2. I definetly want your signature! Also, I'm not a great speller so I hope I spelled definetly correctly. Have fun in Dallas!

  3. Jenny Lawson was so lucky to get to meet you! Awesome giveaway :)

  4. I would be honored if I could get both your & her signatures! However, I'm also happy enough just commenting on your lovely blog-- I only found it a month ago thru the Bloggess herself, but you are quite hilarious! Keep it up :)

  5. Love the giveaway! I found your blog through her link - how cool is that! Who wouldn't want your signature!

I so need this! My husband is the biggest baby when it comes to snakes! He will scream and cry and flail his arms like a tiny school girl! The book would be totally awesome too and I expect your signature!

  7. That little snake made me think of Harry Potter!

  8. Awesome visit you had!! Even with the catfish purse!! ::giggles::

That is awesome you got to meet the Bloggess! That is an awesome giveaway and if I happen to win I totally want your autograph too. Plus Bitey looks like he belongs in Harry Potter which makes it an awesome thing I can use to torture my boyfriend with (who is still refusing to take me to Harry Potter world because he thinks I am going to embarrass him).

  10. I just finished her book and it was so funny. I read it on my kindle and would love to have a real copy! Your blog is hysterical. So glad I clicked on the link to it from bloggess' site.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Totally awesome that you got to go to The Bloggess's booksigning. I'm completely jealous. Like 100%. She didn't come anywhere near my home :( and I couldn't afford to go anywhere else. But it's super amazing that you got to go.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Did you pet Juanita? Because I think you totally should have. :D

    ReplyDelete
  13. If I win, could you not include Bitey because snakes (of all kinds) scare the beejesus out of me. But if I do win, totally include your autograph

    ReplyDelete
  14. How very cool! If it weren't for the Bloggess I wouldn't have found your blog. You both bring me immense joy!

I would like to win this thing, I typically have both your blog and The Bloggess' blog open on my browser at work (I'm Productive). Also, I hope there is a similar mini rattle snake experience in my boyfriend's future...then he and Ryan could bond. lol

    ReplyDelete
  18. I love the Bloggess and am so jealous that you met her and get to be best friends forever now.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I'm still a little bit in shock that the universe didn't implode with the awesomeness of the two of you in one place.

    ReplyDelete
  20. You have the best giveaways. I love Jenny but she didn't come to Atlanta (sad day... saddest day?) Also, I have an actual snake that I use to scare my boyfriend. His tank is right next to my boyfriend's desk chair at home, so I love to walk up behind him and be like, "Ooh, Zeus is watching you. I probably need to feed him soon. He looks hungry." So, yeah, Bitey could be like a "friendly" reminder I can whip out in public.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Erin M.4/27/2012

Do want! All of the above! Reading her book now, laughing out loud at VERY inopportune times, but a signed copy (by both of you) would be amazing. And a bitey. He's cute.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Joanne4/27/2012

That's so great that you got to meet here! If I win the snake, I am soooo scary my fiance with it every chance I get!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Gonna need that rattlesnake, please. None of my other animal figurines give hugs with their mouths.

Plus also this would be totes fitting given that I sortofmetyou because of The Bloggess, who can now be my imaginary biff since she's done being yours. Sorry Vanessa.

    ReplyDelete
  24. It's awesome you got to meet the Bloggess :) I'm really sad I wasn't able to go to the signing she did near me... stupid work. You guys are both amazing and I am so happy I found both your blogs :D

    ReplyDelete
  25. I just finished reading her book on the train. H hysterical laughter got me many odd stares! And I definitely want your signature too, when I win :)

    ReplyDelete
  26. If by some strike of lightning I win this (I never win anything, except the flu), I would like your John Hancock in the book as well. You're both hysterical (plus you'll probably be famous and write a book someday, so then I'll have your "pre-fame" signature in my book collection.

    ReplyDelete
  27. DeDe R4/27/2012

Not sure if I qualify for this giveaway as I won in the last 30 days...but I am putting my name in the hat anyway. I was lucky enough to get an advanced reader's copy from of Jenny's book from Amazon a few months ago (my friend worked there for a few months). I would trade my ARC for a signed copy in a heartbeat!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  28. DeDe R4/27/2012

PS: Duh, you totes have to sign it too LAUREN.

    ReplyDelete
  29. OMG I so want her book, she rocks you rock(okay you totally rock because who else loves cheese like me).Not sure if you folowed my facebook post today but my son asked me if I had a baby in my tummy after I just ate a box of Mac-n-cheese which leads to I also want the rattlesnack to scare my kid for pay back bahaha

    ReplyDelete
  30. One time, my daughter said she was "totes jelly" (totally jealous, of course) and I stole it from her and said it so many times that she screamed at me to stop. Lauren, I am totes jelly of your awesomeness. My sweet boyfriend who claimed before he met me to have only ever read tech manuals is reading "Let's Pretend This Never Happened" right now and he LOVES it. Of course, I read it first. Because I do NOT share well.

    ReplyDelete
  31. TraceyM4/27/2012

I Love the Blogess! Like you, she cracks me up. And you totally have to sign it too! Please pick me. *insert sad, desperate pouty face here*

    ReplyDelete
  32. Oh, pick me! Pick Meeeee. I'd put the rattlesnake in my husband's chair at dinner. I would do that. For you. Thats the kind of blogstalker i am.

    ReplyDelete
  33. SignificantNothing4/27/2012

I so jealous of both of you. My two favourite bloggers in the same room and I missed it. Stupid far-away signings. Can't wait to read your post on it! :)

    ReplyDelete
  34. Ahh, I am too far for book sendings but that's a mighty pretty picture you got there. Also, funny, Simon calls me 'bitey' all the time and I really AM good at annoying husbands.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Melody4/27/2012

I want this copy, with both of your signatures. And then I'll give my copy to someone who I secretly believe needs to lighten the *#%! up. I'm going to start planning now.

  36. My papa killed a rattlesnake that was in our front porch then made chili out if it. Did you meet Juanita and shake her little hand?

I found your page on Monday through the link on the Bloggess' website (not that it makes me special or anything). Since then, I have repeatedly ignored the piles of work on my desk so I could instead read each and every blog entry. Three things: (1)You are hysterical; (2) I am totally jealous of your becoming BFFs with the Bloggess; (3) it's Friday. I know, the last one had nothing to do with the other two and was completely random, but I believe Fridays should always be acknowledged and celebrated.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I just finished reading the book and was thinking about reading it a second time. If I win this copy, then it's like reading a whole new book. So pick me.

  40. I thought I felt a great disturbance in The Force! :)
SO jealous. Here's hoping she/her publishers get tired of my begging and she comes to Seattle.

Also, husband-annoying item?!? I am SO in!!

P.S. Great pic, Copernicus is one of my faves! Did you survive a "hug" from him?

    ReplyDelete
  41. A signed copy would be awesome! And signed by both of you would be extra awesome, like Unicorns and Glitter awesome! And Bitey would make my boyfriend roll his eyes and sigh, and since my goal in life is to annoy him as much as humanly possible, that would be one step closer to making my life complete. =)

    ReplyDelete
  42. I am so so jealous that you met the incomparable Jenny Lawson. I feel like it's my turn to bring home a pet so I think Bitey needs to join the menagerie at my house. :)

    ReplyDelete
  43. You are so lucky! I wanted to meet her, but the day she is in Florida, I'm taking a final. :/

Your signature to her book would only add to its value! :] Safe travels home!

    ReplyDelete
  44. I may need to send the Bloggess some hate mail for stealing my best friend...

    ReplyDelete
  45. How cool would it be to receive a book signed by BOTH of you?! I can't even think of a word that would describe it!!! So I hope I win! Thanks for the chance! :)

    ReplyDelete
  46. Ah!!! So awesome that you got to meet her - I am jealous! If I win the book I would also want you to sign it. I would also like to request that RYAN draw a picture of your pool noodle for me in the book. Or a ruby. Clearly you need to choose me as the winner. Seriously, though - so happy that you got to meet her. You are both fabulous!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Yay! 2 of my favorite people to read together at last! I would love the book to be signed by both of you!

    ReplyDelete
  48. 2nd try at comment! If I had a book signed by both Lauren and Jenny I would SQUEE so hard I would need surgery. And I have many many uses for Bitey. I promise I will take a picture of him in his new home and you can leave the picture on Ryan's chair so he will have all the fun of Bitey without the butt imprint. Everybody wins!

    ReplyDelete
  49. I would love to enter for Bitey, but you can pass the book on to another lucky winner since I already have one (as you well know!). I'd *love* to place Bitey secretly in The Husband's chair and watch the hilarity. Maybe even a blog post.....it could happen.

    ReplyDelete
  50. My husband would totally retaliate if I used Bitey on him in that manner. It is so amazingly tempting to do it though! Decisions, decisions.....if I win do I risk getting it done back to me, or worse? I'm gonna risk it!(I would love it if you signed the book as well.)

    ReplyDelete
  51. absolutahnie4/27/2012

i am so jealous! i wanted to meet her but she didn't come to boston =( in any case, if i win bitey would have a good home with me. i name everything (including inanimate objects) and all names must end with "eeeee!" for example, our house is "niney" (guess which number it is! and my car is "beemie" and the boyfriend has been dubbed "monkey"
you get the picture. i do have a shrub named "vincenzo" sometimes i call him...shrubbie!

    ReplyDelete
  52. OMG! I am so jealous of you! And you even got Copernicus and Juanita in the picture! I wish she were coming somewhere in the Midwest so I could see her. I just finished reading her book and was laughing out loud so much that I'm sure my husband thinks I'm insane. That, and the fact that I keep saying "poop rope".

I would love a book with both your signatures. It would be treasured forever. And "Bitey" is awesome as well. I think I would have to get him a little knife named "Stabby" so he would have a friend.

    ReplyDelete
  53. The glitter even rained down in the restroom of the immediate care I took my injured husband to today, all the way in Indianapolis!! I wish I could have been there to meet you both!!

    ReplyDelete
  54. I would love to win the book. And Bitey, too, of course, because the thing you do with placing on your husband's chair - hilarious. I'm thinking I could hide him all kinds of places to scare him - in his toiletry bag, in a box of his breakfast cereal, etc. I can't wait! I, too, like to name things. My favorite plate is Old Greenie. It's such a happy, lime green and so fun to eat from.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I'll get in on this action, I could really use a butt biting rattler...:)

    ReplyDelete
  56. i'd love to win this! i'm dying to read it but i made a stupid new year's resolution not to buy any new books until i read what i have:(

    ReplyDelete

  70. Kate Bailey4/27/2012

Me mee meet meeee! I love y'all! And I'm kinda bitey myself...

    ReplyDelete
  71. I'm a little jealous you got to meet her! I just started reading her blog not to long ago. My husband hates it because I always sit here and laugh and then read what she writes out loud. So even though he has no interest in reading her blog, I make him listen to me read it. I'm a terrible torturous wife. I told him I wanted this book for my birthday and he was all "No! You already read me her blog, I don't need you to me read me the book too!" He's the spoiler of all things fun.

    ReplyDelete
  72. I waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaant. Who wouldn't want that book signed by both of you? Jenny Lawson is amazing but you would be a total bonus. Also? Bitey would look amazing on my desk at work.

    ReplyDelete
  73. I'll never win, but I still want it anyway!!! So jealous that you got to meet the Bloggess!!

    ReplyDelete
  74. So glad you got to meet her (and pose for a picture!) Now you have major bragging rights!

    ReplyDelete
  75. I would absolutely want a Bloggess-signed book with a Lauren-signed bookmark in it. It would be, like, kismet, or something. And several kinds of awesome. I know I probably won't win, but I still gotta try!

    ReplyDelete
  76. You lucky bitch. :)

I so want both of those items. I had a snake as a pet in college, and my hubs hates snakes, so obviously I MUST have that so I can also torture my husband. It's kismet.

And I have avoided getting the book as of yet, and now I know why! Because I am destined to own THIS very book.

Thank you in advance for my prizes, Lauren!!

    ReplyDelete
  77. Anonymous4/27/2012

I SO WANT TO WIN MORE THAN ANY CONTEST IN ANY BLOG IN ALL THE LAND! And I want your signature at LEAST as much as Jenny's! Only issue is, if I win I will never stop "SQUEEEEEE"ing again!!! But once I flash The Book, everyone will understand and join in. So you see. I must win. It's for world harmony and peace after all ( as it is basically impossible to kill anyone while making a squeee sound! That is a fact I may have completely made up, yet if you think about it long enough, makes complete and utter sense). ----Kande------

  78. xoxoxo, love the blog, and love me some metal animals. Brought a pig with wings home on a 14 hour flight, in my carry on. Security loved me. Cheers!

    ReplyDelete
  79. Pick me! I am so upset that I missed her in Houston this week because I was sick, and my anxiety probably would have kept me from going anyway because my brain is a jerk. I've got a blog post in draft right now about the whole ordeal. She's totally my hero as a blogger and a warrior of mental illness, and I found you on her site, so I really want your autograph, too! Ok I'm done now.
P.S. I follow you on FB and Twitter, too, but I'm not a creepy stalker... I promise. :)

    ReplyDelete
  80. I'd say pick me, but I never win anything! Well, that's not true, I've won random door prizes twice, but the prize people can't pronounce my name and assume it's a fake and try to say i didn't really win cause i don't exist. Also, I just finished reading her book and i so loved it! and i'm incredibly jealous of you!

    ReplyDelete
  81. Two lessons learned today while looking for Jenny's book at maze of bookstore:

    1. Little kids don't like it when you finally find said book and screech "FUCKIN'A, DEAD MOUSE, YEESSSSSSSS'

    2. Parents like it even less when you try to explain excitement of finding book by trying to explain it whilst(score 2 points for using fancy word) uttering a paragraph containing labia, dead pug and cat rapist.

Needing Jenny's and your autograph so I can trade up to room without padded walls...love you both!

    ReplyDelete
  82. Bitey is actually the reason I started following the Bloggess! And her blogroll is what led me to you! I'm so jealous you got to meet her and to see glitter rain down on unicorns and dancing leprechauns, but you def deserve it!

    ReplyDelete
  83. Oooh pick me! I may or may not have already built a laser protected shrine in preparation of owning a book that was signed by both you and TheBloggess! (Lasers are a necessity to protect the book from my little demon gremlins and their forever sticky hands of death.) And I so have *big* plans for Bitey! My bestie is super scared of anything having to do with any and all snakes. Pictures, stickers, foam snakes, wooden snakes,...you name it and it will make her scream that she regrets having met me, but deep down I know she really appreciates and loves all snakes. Especially the ones I leave out in conspicuous spaces when she disagrees/won't share her chocolate with me.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Pick me, pick me!! Its awesome that you got to meet the Blogess! I started reading her blog when she got the giant metal chicken, and then I found a link to your blog later on and was instantly hooked!

    ReplyDelete
  85. Words would fail me at how awesome it would be to have both yours and her autograph. *swoon*

    ReplyDelete
  86. Owning that book would make me feel like Sheldon did when Penny gave him a signed napkin by Leonard Nimoy. "I possess the DNA of Leonard Nimoy?! I just need a healthy ovum and I can make my own Leonard Nimoy!" Except I could make my own Jenny Lawson and Lauren.

I hope you watch The Big Bang Theory otherwise this comment will not make any sense. I'll be waiting for that restraining order in the mail. Hopefully tucked into the book.

    ReplyDelete
  87. I don't even have the words to express how awesome Bitey is. A package containing him and Jenny's book would make me insanely happy.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Love it! I actually found your blog thanks to The Bloggess featuring you on her sidebar. Your blog makes me laugh the same way hers does, and I have to say, I love that you're from Chicago!

Also, I actually just finished listening to the audio version of Jenny's book, and it's AWESOME to hear her read it. I'd almost say that it's better than reading the book because it's so great to hear the stories as she intends, but I want to see the pictures that she describes, haha. Sooo I guess each version has its strengths.

    ReplyDelete
  89. ok so I totally friended you on facebook because you told me too and I listen to the blogs of awesome. Therefore in return I think you should send me the Bloggess book and Bitey because I ask you to. See how wonderful this relationship is :) Give and take my friend give and take.

Also, can't wait to hear all about your trip to Dallas!
    xo

    ReplyDelete
  101. Did you take Jenny some unicorn poop?! It seems like something that you two could share together and quite possibly bond over. The signed copy of the book is nice, but the real issue here is the rainbowy, sparkly, sprinkly unicorn poop. As a member of the Unicorn Success Club, I urge you to consider the magically-ness of unicorn poop. http://www.instructables.com/id/Unicorn-Poop/

  109. I found your blog through Jenny's. I am that crazy woman who friended you on Facebook and now like wants to be your best friend, even though I'm almost 40 and a mom of two little girls and no longer cool in any way shape or form. :) Still, I totally want to win because the last thing I won was a box of anti-freeze when I was 7. True story.

  110. I love your blog and the Bloggess. You're both incredibly entertaining.

  111. my two fav bloggers signing one book? Priceless! AND I'll save you the trouble of shipping because I'll be in your town in a month, cuz let's face it, who really has time to go to the post office these days?

    ReplyDelete
  112. Seriously...I recently found your blog through hers and im kinnnda obsessing over reading every blog post of yours lol to have her book signed both of you may cause the world to implode...but on a very high note!

    ReplyDelete
  113. So jealous that you got to meet her! I would have shit myself.

And of COURSE I'd want you to sign it!

    ReplyDelete
  114. So, I was watching repeats on (aussie) t.v and there pops Jenny talking about pregnant porn! My mind goes straight to your post talking about meeting her, I open your page and BAM there you both are :) I was meant to win this, fate told me so.
    Love from Australia xo

  115. So I think you should totally photoshop that photo with different backgrounds, like you and the Bloggess went on vacay together. You could make a scrapbook! It won't be creepy. AT. ALL.

  116. I love how Copernicus The Homicidal Monkey is peeking up from the bottom of the picture, all like, I'm hiding you can't see me. Then he pops out of hiding but you still can't see him because he stabbed you in the eyes.

I am so very happy for you! Excellent job of imposing your will on the Universe. I was thinking how cool it would have been if Ryan had met Victor, but suddenly that seems like the worst idea in the history of ever.

Why would I not want your autograph in the book? And if Bitey came home with me, he would be very happy next to the pinky nail sized glass cow that I have. They would be best friends.

    ReplyDelete
  131. Oh pick me pick me! And yes, I want your autograph (and Ryan's, obviously) too!!

  132. Since you wrote this post on MY BIRTHDAY, and I just turned 37 and need cheering up I think you should pick me. :) Also if you ever come to WV you can snuggle my baby girl and use her cuteness to entice Ryan.

  135. Once I had a pet garter snake that I found when the cat brought it into the kitchen and I named it Claire. We kept her (him? I don't know snake genders) in a bucket and all of my friends thought I was a freak for liking reptiles until my dad ran over Claire with a lawnmower. True story. I miss her.

  136. I'm a fan of you and the Bloggess!

    ReplyDelete
  137. I actually already finished her book, but would LERVE a signed copy, and then I can give the unsigned one to one of my friends who needs to read a book with a lot of swears in it. YES!

  142. I'm jealous that you got to meet her. I live too far away from ANY of her signings to be able to attend. And since I found your blog through her blog... I am doubly indebted to her entertainment value. I already read my Kindle version of her book, so mostly I am in this for the Bitey. Looking forward to your post about meeting her, because two of my favorite bloggers colliding... that's like blogasmic.

  143. Glad you had a great time! I <3 the Bloggess!

I am a former Chi-town girl (go Bulls!!) who now lives in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. Would love to win the book and Bitey! Let's just hope he does not go missing.

  163. This book would help me avoid having to talk to the dude on my bus to work who always insists on sitting by me and talking about how he is actually Elvis. As in THE Elvis. Plus if I could play that snake-on-the-chair prank on my husband, then snakes wouldn't seem so scary and I might get over my lifelong fear of snakes. But then again I did see a giant snake pretty much eat a man whole when I was a kid, so it might take more than that.

    ReplyDelete
  164. SO I would like to win something sometime. Also I really love snakes and my hubby won't let me have a real live one. :-( And also I think the Bloggess is brilliant. And I really loved your story about sleeping under your desk; I helped the records administrator at my work build a little sleeping compartment under her desk, and last week I took a nap in my car during lunch hour. People thought I was dead. HAHAHAHAHA. Also I've had a little bit to drink. I invented something new. Yay! I'll be famous! ;-) If I win, will you sign my book too?

  166. I want to enter this. I NEED to enter this. I HAVE to win this.... except that (I think) the giveaway is over.

Don't you just hate it when you have an awesome website/blog that you *LOVE*? And that person has links for sites/blogs THEY love? And then you're all, "well ____ said it rocks, so it's going to be AWESOME -- although drooling in front of my far too large computer screen is unhealthy and I'm not getting anything any CLEANER around this pig sty, I shall limit myself to clicking the link to ONE new blog/site per day, and then you finally get to a really cool page where they author makes you laugh your ass off, but then he/she is all, "here, enter my giveaway" to win something you REALLY want, but then you see that you *JUST* missed the entry deadline/cutoff? DOESN'T THAT SUCK?!?!?

Oh, wait. That crap just happens to me, doesn't it. Shucks!! ;o)

    1. Yes sorry it's over!

I'm guessing you clicked your way over here from The Bloggess? I'm so very glad you did and that you liked my site! And again so so sorry about the giveaway! There will be others though promise!

I'm going to see Jenny again in June in Chicago and will probably do a giveaway where someone gets to pick what they want her to write in a book for them. So check back in June!
